Andy Marshall
In the professional media biz, Andy began as an actor. He was a series regular on Mysterious Island and the animated series Flash Gordon. He’s also appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Monk; The Sentinel; and as a recurring character on SOUL. He has done theatre as well, having had the privilege of playing Othello (Tempest Theatre). While living in LA, Andy had the chance to produce his first film, Maple, with filmmaker Sharon Lewis. He attended LA City College, and wanting to explore producing further, Andy attended the 2003 Producers’ Lab at the Canadian Film Centre, where he produced the award winning short film The Sadness of Johnson Joe Jangles (writer/director Jeffrey St. Jules, winner of the Best Emerging Canadian Filmmaker award at the 2005 Worldwide Short Film Festival). Since then he has produced: His films have won awards and played at festivals around the world. He performed the duties of Production Supervisor on five 2007 Canadian Film Centre short films (Burgeon & Fade; Shutter; Night; Song of Slomon; Cursing Hanley). He also assisted producer Ngozi Paul on 13 half-hour episodes of ‘da Kink in my Hair, shown on Global TV. In 2008, Andy hit a milestone: his first one-hour drama, SOUL, went into production. Andy co-created the show with his sister Abi Marshall, and he wore several hats: Creative Producer, Writer, Actor, and co-songwriter. The show was produced by the Halifax Film Co.; the showrunner was Peter Lauterman; and it was broadcast by Vision TV (Joan Jenkinson, Director of Programming) in Feb-March, 2009. www.soultv.ca Born in Trinidad, Andy holds a BA (Music) and MFA (Theatre) from Toronto’s York University.
